Produzent Felix Gauder (Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Somerville) eröffnet seine atmosphärische Remix-Version mit der ikonischen Synthesizer-Melodie und hebt einmal mehr die einzigartige stimmliche Chemie zwischen Garfunkel Sr. und Garfunkel Jr. hervor. Während sich die Stimme von Letzterem im Refrain („I won’t let you down“) mit Beats und Streichern dramatisch erhebt, kommt Garfunkel Sr. in den ruhigeren Strophen hinzu. Er verlieh einem weiteren majestätischen 80er-Jahre-Coversong (ursprünglich von Ph. D. 1981 aufgenommen) stimmliche Ernsthaftigkeit. Sowohl episch als auch tanzflächentauglich, sowohl zeitgemäß als auch seinen 80er-Wurzeln treu, kommt der neue Remix in die gleiche Kerbe wie die frühere Single „Time After Time“ (Cyndi Lauper) oder das Duo-Cover von Eurythmics‘ „Here Comes The Rain Again“.
Während das brandneue „Jojo Remix“ ebenfalls mit Beats und zeitgenössischen Dance-Elementen daherkommt, setzen Garfunkel & Garfunkel auf dem dazugehörigen Album „Father and Son“ vor allem „auf einen echt modernen orchestralen Vibe, mit vielen Streichern“. „Wirklich ein Vater-Sohn-Projekt“, Garfunkel Jr. brachte mehr Einflüsse der 80er Jahre in das Projekt ein, während sein Vater verschiedene Klassiker aus dem Great American Songbook vorschlug – „wunderbare Songs aus den 1940er Jahren und so weiter“. Art Garfunkel Jr. wurde 1990 in Manhattan als erstes Kind von Kathryn und Art Garfunkel geboren. Opening his atmospheric remix version with the iconic synthesizer melody, production wizard Felix Gauder (Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Somerville) once again highlights the unique vocal chemistry between Garfunkel Sr. and Garfunkel Jr. Whereas the latter’s voice dramatically soars during the chorus (“I won’t let you down”), complete with beats and strings, Garfunkel Sr. joins in during the quieter verses, adding vocal gravitas to yet another majestic 80s cover tune (originally recorded by Ph.D. in 1981). Both epic and dancefloor-ready, both contemporary and true to its 80s roots, the new remix arrives in the same vein as earlier single “Time After Time” (Cyndi Lauper) or the duo’s cover of Eurythmics’ “Here Comes The Rain Again”.
